Higgledy-Piggledy Farm is a place where everything is hotch-potch and topsy-turvy.
This is why we love everything about Dr Seuss. Wacky Wednesday is one of our favourite mixed-up, messed-up Seuss tales. In fact, a speech pathologist recently said our book, ‘Pigs Might Fly But They Can’t Lays Eggs’, was written with the same wackiness as Wacky Wednesday.

Many stories are making a revival and THE STORY ABOUT PING is one of them.
Celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2013, this beautifully simple tale takes children to the Yangtze River where they learn all about the importance of family and belonging. However, if Ping was being written today, the last duck to get on the boat probably wouldn’t be given a smack! Quack!
What was your favourite book when you were growing up?
And which books do your children love reading over and over again? As the resident Higgledy Piggledy Farm Bookworm, I’ll be featuring our must-have picture books. Maybe your most-treasured will be on our top shelf. I hope so. xxx Our first story is about a duck. Any geeses? I mean guesses?

One of the Higgledy-Piggledy Farm ebooks has been nominated for a Children’s Book Award.
Pigs Might Fly But They Can’t Lay Eggs has been entered in the Speech Pathology Australia 2013 Book Awards - Best Book for Language and Literacy Development for Young Children (aged 2-5 years) category. The nominating, Melbourne-based, speech pathologist has over 25 years experience in language and literacy, working in schools and her private practice. This is what she had to say about this topsy-turvy tale:
“I love the repetitive idea and sentence structure that runs through this book. I think the story will be a winner with the kids as they love anything that’s a bit perverse – the opposite of what you would expect – a la Wacky Wednesday Dr Seuss.”

If you’ve seen the Higgledy-Piggledy Farm Facebook page you would have met Big Hen.
These are her three Chickadees – all born around 17 February. A Rhode Island Red, Big Hen was sitting on nine eggs but only three were fertilised. The other six made it onto the breakfast menu. As you know, many of the characters in our children’s books are based on the animals from Kerry and Nick’s real-life farm. So, one day you may see Big Hen and her chicks star in a story. A special message for two Higgledy-Piggledy fans.
Wendy from Melbourne emailed Higgledy-Piggledy Farm and said, ‘The books look amazing – I love the illustrations and the stories are just beautiful. I will be forwarding the links onto everyone I know. I showed them to my daughter who is an avid reader and is now 11 and she thought they were extremely cute. She wishes that kind of thing was around when she was younger.’

Our names are Sniffles, Snorzzz, Sneezey, Snorter and Snotty.
As you would expect, we love getting up to all sorts of dirty mischief. But our favourite pastime is sticking our grubby noses into everyone’s business, especially if that means rummaging through a compost bin or two. That’s why some of the farm animals call us the 5 Nosey Porkers! We star in both Higgledy-Piggledy Farm ebooks. Help the Book-Worm-O-Metre raise $150 for CCF every month.
The studious Higgledy-Piggledy book worm is keeping a tally of how many Higgledy-Piggledy ebooks are sold. Our Moo Year’s Resolution is to sell 100 every month, so we can donate $150 each month to the Cambodian Children’s Fund (CCF).
So, let’s see how much we can raise in January.
If you’d like to help us spread the word, feel free to drag any images from this blog or the Higgledy-Piggledy bookstore @ blurb.com to add to your FB or email. Each book is only $2.99, so the more books are sold, the more money we can donate to CCF. You’ll need an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch to read the first two in the series:

‘The ducks think they’re roosters. They sit under our bedroom window and quack until we wake up.’
‘Clever Hen thinks she’s human. She won’t stop knocking on the front door until we give her breakfast.’
These little anecdotes and many more inspired the Higgledy-Piggledy Farm ebooks. You see, Menagarians, Kerry and Nick, live on a farm just outside Hobart. So, what happens in real life often sneaks its way onto the pages of the Higgledy-Piggledy books which are now available @ blurb.com or just click on the links below. Half the revenue from all sales will be donated to the Cambodian Children’s Fund.

“Hello,” I’m Raucous the Rooster.
I’m the only rooster on Higgledy-Piggledy Farm and my job is to wake the animals every morning. Well, that’s what I’m meant to do but I’m always mucking up my crows. Sometimes I crow, ‘Doodle, Cock A Doo!’ Other times I crow, ’Doo, Doodle Cock A !’ But of course the right way is, ‘Cock A, Doodle Doo!’ A rooster that crows. Now that’s muddled up! which is why I live on Higgledy-Piggledy Farm.

Have you met the animals from Higgledy-Piggledy Farm?
During January, we’re going to say ‘hello’ to all of them. As well as the friendly faces you can see here, there’s also Gander the Goose and his goslings: Haggle, Gaggle, Gawk and Geez. The Higgledy-Piggledy sheep - Scarf, Mittens, Beanie, Pom Pom, Pearl, Plain, Spin, Yarn, Baarry and Baarbara. The stable of horses – Clip, Clop, Canter, Banter, Morgan and Gallop, Clyde, Dale.
You can also read about many of the animals in two new children’s books that have just been published online. Click on the links below or go to the Higgledy-Piggledy bookstore @ blurb.com Half the revenue from all sales will be donated to the Cambodian Children’s Fund.
